The halted payments follow comments from a Trump administration official last week that $175 million in federal funding would be paused because Penn allowed a transgender athlete to compete.

A strike that was set to begin at 7 a.m. Wednesday will not happen. Details on the new tentative agreement between the union and college were not immediately available.

Mumin was superintendent of the Lower Merion School District for a little more than a year before being tapped by Gov. Josh Shapiro to lead the Pennsylvania Department of Education in January 2023.

The district is considering building a new school to replace Doyle and Linden elementaries as part of the plans for updating eight schools, and says there will be tax impacts.
