Barclay Prime

Center CitySteakhouse$$$-$$$$

With a reputation for dining excellence among athletes, dignitaries and visiting celebs, and a staff that just won’t quit — literally, several of its servers are lifers, with 15-plus years of continuous service — this busy boutique steakhouse in Rittenhouse Square has been in the “Best Philly Steak” conversation going on two decades. According to Inquirer food critic Craig LaBan, Barclay Prime serves the city’s gold standard for dry-aged luxe prime rib eye, and its other meats, fishes, sides and desserts ain’t half bad either. (Barclay is also, quite famously, the home of the $140 wagyu cheesesteak topped with black truffle, foie gras and cooper sharp, and served with a half-bottle of champagne. It’s a gimmick, but a delicious one.)
