Man, 89, killed in head-on crash

Police are investigating a head-on crash that left one man dead and another seriously injured Wednesday in Winslow Township. The crash occurred about 6:50 a.m. when a 1995 Chevrolet van heading westbound on Williamstown Road in Sicklerville suddenly crossed into the eastbound lane, ramming a 1991 Ford F150 pickup driven by 89-year-old Michael Eppolite, police said.

The crash occurred about 6:50 a.m. when a 1995 Chevrolet van heading westbound on Williamstown Road in Sicklerville suddenly crossed into the eastbound lane, ramming a 1991 Ford F150 pickup driven by 89-year-old Michael Eppolite, police said.

Eppolite, of Berlin, died at the scene.

The van's driver, Anthony Passarella, 25, of Glassboro, was airlifted to Cooper University Medical Center in Camden with multiple serious injuries, police said.

Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles Winslow Fire Department firefighters had to extricate them from the crumbled wreckage.

Investigators, who are attempting to reconstruct the accident, asked anyone who witnessed the crash to call them at 609-561-3300.
