Sixers deny firing CEO Adam Aron

After initially refusing to comment, the 76ers denied Monday night that Adam Aron has been fired as chief executive officer.

"We normally don't comment on rumors," Sixers director of public relations Mike Preston said on Monday night. "Adam Aron is still CEO of the Sixers."

Howard Eskin of Fox 29 first reported earlier in the day via Twitter that the 76ers had parted ways with Aron. Before the Sixers commented late in the day, a league source told to The Inquirer that Eskin's report was correct.

The Sixers had refused to comment on Aron's status early Monday afternoon.

In addition to being the team's CEO, Aron has an ownership stake in the team.

This news came three days after New York Daily News Knicks beat writer Frank Isola tweeted that former Madison Square Garden president Scott O'Neil was close to getting an executive position with the Sixers.

There were reports on May 14 that Aron's responsibilities were changed. The Sixers denied it back then.

He isn't involved in franchise's basketball operations. He was more of a marketing guy.
