Homicide suspect surrenders to police

Maurice Jones, wanted in connection with a shooting homicide late last month, surrendered to police on Monday night.

Maurice Jones, a man wanted in connection with a Feb. 25 murder in North Philadelphia, surrendered to police Monday night, cops announced Tuesday.

Police said Jones, 27, of 12th Street near Fisher Avenue in Logan, showed up at Police Headquarters, 8th and Race streets, to turn himself in at 11:45 p.m.

Cops originally put Jones' mug shot out early last week.

Police said at 10:45 p.m. on Feb. 25, officers responding to a call for a person with a gun found 35-year-old Charles Tresse suffering from more than one gunshot wound to the chest on 20th Street near Montgomery Avenue. Tresse was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds later that night.
