Eagles quarterback Michael Vick says he is just trying to enjoy playing football again as the Eagles sit in a first-place tie in the NFC East and Vick continues to receive accolades.

"It's a good opportunity right now for me to be in a position that I'm in and I'm just trying to take full advantage of it and just enjoy the game," he said during his weekly appearance on ESPN 94.1 in Virginia Beach. "For all that I've missed over the last 3 years, I'm just trying to make up for lost time."

Vick spent Tuesday morning at Boys Latin and he continues to spread his message to young people about making better choices and the mistakes he made.

Some other topics that he addressed:

On the fast start: We just felt like we could come out and start fast on them. We felt like we could get some downfield throws. We couldn't have picked a better time. I know coach Reid put together a great game plan and we had to go out there and execute that play, just like we practiced. You very seldom get the look that you want, but when you get it you have to execute.

Scripted plays to start the game: We'll script them, but 90 percent of them it doesn't go according to plan. You have to play the game and based on feel and what happens at the moment.

How many times does he go to his first read: It's about 50 percent you hit the primary target and 50 percent you have to through the progressions. It all depends on what defense you get.

On the Giants: A lot of things can change in 4 weeks. The last time we played, their strengths were the defensive line. They were good in all areas. I have to wait until I see the film tomorrow and see what they are doing well right now and how we react and who is going to playing and see what we can do.

They are going to do what works for them. We won't expect anything different. We just have a plan and be ready for anything they put in front of us.

Change in arm strength from his younger days: I think it's about the same. I don't think it's any stronger than it was in Atlanta. We just didn't showcase the deep ball and take advantage of that.

On why he's a football player rather than playing basketball or baseball: That's what God put me on this earth to do to play football. That's why I do it so well.

On hits: It's a tough game. It may look easy, but it's tough. It's such a challenge. You look forward to the days when you can just relax during the offseason. When you are living in the moment, you gotta go out, give it your all, not think about getting hurt or getting hit hard or your surroundings out on the field. You got to go out there and play and try to enjoy the game.
