Eagles and WIP extend broadcast deal

Starting immediately, fans will have access to play-by-play coverage of all Eagles pre-season, regular season and post-season games thanks to a multi-year broadcast partnership announced today.

WIP will continue to be the Eagles' radio home, as CBS Radio and the team announced a new rights deal today.

There are also some new features in the deal, including the launch of a HD Radio station with 24/7 Eagles programming year-round.

While the new HD radio station is in its infancy, a WIP representative said the station is expected to broadcast original as well as game content, likely similar to that of the 98.1 WOGL HD4 24/7 Phillies station.

The 24/7 Phillies station was announced in spring 2011 and features "a full schedule of unique daily and weekly programs centered on the team, as well as provide behind the scenes access to Citizens Bank Park." One of the original programs, Phillies Phorum, allows fams to ask questions via email, Facebook and Twitter.

Much about the upcoming station hasn't been totally determined yet and a rep said it is unclear which HD band the 24/7 Eagles station will broadcast from. The station will be available to fans with HD radio access.

The exact length of the deal was not disclosed, beyond it being a "multi-year" agreement. Eagles games have ben broadcast on various CBS Radio stations since 1992.

Fans will continue to have access to play-by-play coverage of all Eagles pre-season, regular season and post-season games on 94.1 FM and the rest of the Eagles radio network's 11 affiliates. Merril Reese and Mike Quick will continue providing commentary.
