Friends Central's own Benj Pasek put words in the mouths of Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling.

Pasek and his writing partner Justin Paul wrote the lyrics for La La Land. The modern-set musical stars the oh-so-charming Stone and Gosling as actress Mia and jazz saxophonist Sebastian (respectively) who fall in love in LA. Penn grad John Legend costars, along with JK Simmons and Rosemarie DeWitt. The movie is written and directed by Damien Chazelle, the man behind the stellar Whiplash and the cowriter of the upcoming 10 Cloverfield Lane, a movie directed by Temple's own Dan Trachtenberg and opening in theaters Friday.

La La Land is set to open December 16 against Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Pasek is a former Tony nominee for his work on A Christmas Story. Pasek and Paul's songs have appeared on NBC's Smash and Sesame Street. This is their first big screen credit. Whiplash's Justin Hurwitz will provide the music.
