Chef Sylva Senat, who is preparing to open a restaurant in Center City this winter, will be a contestant on the 14th season of Top Chef, premiering at 10 p.m. Dec. 1 on Bravo.

Senat, who was the chef at the now-closed Tashan, is not new to reality television competition. Earlier this year, he was on Bravo's Recipe for Deception and Food Network's Chopped. Senat said Thursday that he was relinquishing his role running Dos Tacos, a shop near 15th and Sansom Streets. He is part of a team creating Maison 208 at 208 S. 13th St.

But there's a twist this season. Senat will be competing against seven other Top Chef newbies, and eight veterans of the Emmy-winning show who have yet to be announced. It all takes place in Charleston, S.C., so expect a lot of Southern-fried episodes.

Senat is not the only Philly face who will be on the show. Michael Solomonov, of Zahav/Abe Fisher/Dizengoff fame, will serve as a celeb guest star.
