"He is the man you thought you knew," said Camille Cosby, wife of Bill Cosby, in a statement posted by CBS News Monday.

The sexual abuse accusations against Cosby have been piling up over the last few months, yet the actor has had very little to say in response. He did, however, speak out Friday asking critics for a "neutral mind" regarding the abuse claims.

He said, "Let me say this. I only expect the black media to uphold the standards of excellence in journalism and when you do that you have to go in with a neutral mind."

Camille's letter notes her 50-year marriage and goes on to say the man the media is portraying based on the numerous accusations is not the husband she knows.

She also points a finger at the rape story from The University of Virginia reported by "Rolling Stone," saying "The story was heart-breaking, but ultimately appears to be proved to be untrue. Many in the media were quick to link that story to stories about my husband – until that story unwound."
