Trevor Noah, Michael Nutter and Marc Lamont Hill at jawn party

BET Networks and Airbnb hosted a DNC soiree Tuesday night at Coda, a Rittenhouse Square night club. The jawn  -  the official name of the party – was packed with everybody who was anybody.

Singers Bilal and Raheem Devaughn entertained the well-dressed packed to capacity crowd. The Daily Show host, Trevor Noah milled through the space like he was everybody's homeboy along with one of the show's most funniest correspondents, Roy Wood Jr. (The two are in town taping the show live from the convention) Of course, Chief executive officer of BET Networks, Debra Lee addressed folk. Host of Warner Bros. popular celebrity gossip show, A.J. Calloway, was in the house as well as was one of the convention's best dressed politicos, Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake. Not to mention, we spotted former U.S. Attorney General, Eric Holder getting his groove on, too.

Philly notables included, former Mayor Michael Nutter (We see you keeping the party going!), District Attorney Seth Williams, academic and soon-to-be-late night talk show host, Marc Lamont Hill.  We shook hands with  Good Day New York's Q Deezy and chatted it up with local entrepreneurs Keith Leaphart and Michael Morrow.

Floral fashion dominates at Joan Shepp event

Recently ousted chair of the Democratic National Committee, Debbie Wasserman Schultz addressed a crowd of about  200 women at a glam brunch Wednesday morning hosted by the D.C.-based Global Women's Innovation Network at Joan Shepp, reports fashion critic Elizabeth Wellington.

Schultz spoke of a time when women felt they had to dress like men to be respected in the corporate world. Now, Schultz said, women are able to express their femininity through fashion.

Executive ladies and notables in a host of floral fit-and-flares included actress and filmmaker Jennifer Siebel Newsom and former Pennsylvania Congresswoman Allyson Schwartz.  The audience clapped surrounded by bubbly, canapés and Dries van Noten and Ivan Grundahl fall fashion arrivals.

The icing on the cake: Local artist Denise Fike in the garden sketching on-the-spot fashion portraits.

Butcher & Singer is celeb hot spot

While Sen. Bernie Sanders and his family held forth at Butcher & Singer steakhouse Tuesday night, filmmaker Lee Daniels enjoyed dinner with his mother, Clara Watson. Daniels grew up in Wynnefield, a son of a Philadelphia police officer slain in the line of duty.
