S.J. high school basketball hazing allegation probed

The Press of Atlantic City reports:

The Atlantic County's prosecutor is investigating allegations of hazing involving the Absegami High School boys' basketball team. Officials in the Galloway Township school district aren't commenting.

But the parent of one varsity player, Henry White, tells The Press of Atlantic City his son told him the allegations involve three varsity players and a junior varsity player

The school has suspended coach Mel Bennett. Bennett tells the newspaper he's waiting to learn more.
The former NBA player had coached Absegami to a 17-9 record and led the Braves to the first round of the South Jersey Group IV playoffs in his only season last year.
The Braves made the South Jersey Group IV playoffs but lost in the first round.
