Opening arguments could begin today in the attempted murder trial of three men whose videotaped beating by police in North Philadelphia attracted national attention.

The three men are charged in a triple shooting in Feltonville in May 2008 that prompted a police chase that ended in the beating.

Defense laywers have suggested that police followed the wrong car, an assertion police countered at a preliminary hearing.

Four officers were fired and four others disciplined after the beating which was videotaped by a Fox 29 helicopter.
