After almost an hour of standing under a hot, beating sun in an old steel town just outside Harrisburg, we were all hoping Gov. Rendell would make some news and fill us in on whether he will propose raising the personal income tax to help balance next year's budget.
But the governor disappointed.
The furthest he'd go was to say that it's a serious alternative, and if he does raise it, it will be a temporary increase, to likely sunset in 2012.
But he did throw out this gem when asked about when he plans on providing lawmakers with a list of cuts he will make to help make up for the fact that the budget he introduced in February is out of balance (the deficit is larger now): "They'll get it in plenty of time."
