Sources: Eagles DC search remains open; Fisher not coming
Responding to an ESPN report that Andy Reid has told candidates he "closed" his defensive coordinator job, league sources said it was "not true."
The Eagles defensive coordinator search remains open and Jeff Fisher is not going to be the guy who fills the position, multiple league sources with knowledge of the situation said Thursday night.

ESPN's John Clayton said Reid has told some coordinator candidates that he had closed the job and Clayton speculated that Fisher could become the Eagles next defensive coordinator after leaving the Titans earlier Thursday.
But Fisher will not be the new defensive coordinator in Philadelphia, a source said.
When Clayton was asked about Fisher's next destination, he said "don't be surprised" if Fisher ends up as the Eagles defensive coordinator. But it wasn't clear if he had information on that possibility, or was speculating based on potential openings and Fisher's history with the Eagles and new defensive line coach, Jim Washburn.
In any case, Fisher to the Eagles would not make sense on several levels. He is a respected coach and could easily land another head coaching job in the near future. After 17 years as a head coach, there is little reason to believe he would want to become a coordinator again. The Eagles, meanwhile, almost certainly don't want to hire a coordinator who could leave the team quickly and force yet another search for a defensive leader.
