DuPont Performance Materials, a branch of Wilmington-based DuPont Co., which plans to merge with Dow Chemical Co. in August, says it has opened "its largest engineering plastics compounding plant" -- with machines replacing people to speed production and flexibility, plus room for future expansion -- at Guangming New District, Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China.

The new Guangming plant "produces a variety of DuPont products," including Zytel polyamide, Crastin, Delrin acetal resins, Bynel adhesive resins, and Fusabond resins, for carmakers, packaging and other markets in China and elsewhere in Asia.
