A look at who is picking the Eagles on the national scene:
SI.com's Peter King goes with the Birds, 23-20:
NFL receiving leader after one week: Brent Celek -- 9 catches, 101 yards, one touchdown. Donovan McNabb and Celek are going to make beautiful music together this year.
Five of eight ESPN.com experts pick the Eagles.
Ron Jaworski was one of the three to pick the Panthers.
ESPN.com's Matt Mosley likes the Eagles big, 35-17:
I just don't respect the Panthers' defense. There, I said it. Yes, you should worry about Winston Justice, but the Eagles will give him some help with tight end Brent Celek. I predict a huge game for DeSean Jackson. Carolina doesn't have anyone who can cover Jackson. The Eagles will hold DeAngelo Williams under 100 yards, which will be the key.
Five out of six FoxSports.com experts go with the Eagles.
CBSSports.com's Pete Prisco has the Eagles winning, 26-17:
The Eagles are a road favorite, which says a lot about this game. Philadelphia had injuries add up in the preseason but has most of the players back. The physical offensive line should handle a Carolina defensive line that is thin at tackle. Philadelphia will score here. I'm not sure Carolina can keep up.
Two of three Yahoo Sports experts go with the Eagles.
Scott Fowler of The Charlotte Observer has the Eagles winning, 20-16:
The Panthers' 0-4 preseason vanishes in everyone's mind today if Carolina can win its opener. I can see it happening if Carolina rushes for 150 yards as a team. But I don't think that will happen.
Ray Gustini of the National Football Post goes with the Panthers to cover the 1.5-point spread:
The Panthers not signing Michael Vick continues to be the most inexplicable decision of the 2008 offseason. There's a story there — God help me if I know what it is, but something's up in Charlotte, an assessment belied by the mysterious resignation of both Richardson brothers last week. Relocation? Money troubles? New ownership? I'm open to any and all unfounded speculation.
