One woman and 11 men from three New Jersey counties will become the 23rd class to graduate from the Gloucester County Police Academy Special Officer II class on Wednesday.

John Pope, retired captain of the Egg Harbor Police Department, will be the keynote speaker. Pope and GCC Provost/Acting President John Henzy will award the diplomas.

Special awards will be given at the ceremony for academics, marksmanship, vehicle operations, dedication, physical fitness and professionalism.

Special Officer II graduates are authorized to exercise full powers and duties similar to those of a permanent, regularly appointed, full-time police officer. The course is conducted on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Sessions began on Aug. 23.
