Members of Temple's football team are scheduled to inform Owls athletic director Bill Bradshaw that they want Matt Rhule to be their next head football coach during Wednesday's 11 a.m. meeting at the Edberg-Olson Hall, multiple sources have confirmed.

Temple began a national coaching search to replace Steve Addazio, who resigned Tuesday to take the head-coaching job at Boston College.

Rhule, the New York Giants assistant offensive line coach, interviewed for the job in 2010 when Addazio won the position vacated by Al Golden, who left for Miami.

Rhule was the co-offensive coordinator and tight ends coach at Temple before joining the Tom Coughlin Giants NFL staff in March. He had various coaching positions during his six seasons as an Owls assistant, five of which he served under Golden.

"Coach Rhule is a Temple guy," said a source, who didn't want to be identified. "He understands the players. He understands the area. He's just going to be a better fit more than Addazio.

"Addazio didn't know much about Philadelphia, and his philosophy was to just run the football. And he didn't really get us anywhere."
