Steve Addazio's hasty exodus from Temple to Boston College caught his Owls completely off guard.
So how are the Owls recovering from the shock?
"We are good," Temple freshman cornerback Tavon Young said Wednesday, one day after Addazio's resignation. "We still went weight lifting this morning. We are still acting like it didn't happen.
"We are trying to recover from it and continue doing what we are doing and finish strong in school."
The Owls also told Temple athletic director Bill Bradshaw they want New York Giants assistant Matt Rhule to become their next head coach. He held various assistant coaching positions at Temple before joining the Giants staff in March.
The Owls' goals for 2013 will remain the same regardless of who coaches the team.
"Whoever comes in, we are just going to grind for whoever comes in," Young said. "We got to do what we got to do in the Big East."
The Owls are looking to improve upon last season's 4-7 and 2-5 Big East records.
Young did admit to being shocked by Addazio's departure, considering the Owls were building for the future with a lot of young players.
