Calling all shelters and rescues: I wish I could help spread the word about the hundreds of animal-related benefit events in the Philadelphia region every week, but if I did - like Santa in December - I'd never sleep.
But I want to give folks a chance to promote their holiday events and wish lists. So if you are a rescue or shelter holding a holiday event in Pennsylvania, Delaware or New Jersey shoot me an email ( with a two paragraph explanation and I will try to post it on Philly Dawg.
Priority given to organizations in the Philadelphia area, like this one:
Is your dog just dying to wear a red cap and sit on Santa's lap? I know, probably not. But you are! Or, would you like to bring a needy pup into your home this holiday season?
Trot on over to Kimpton’s Hotel Palomar Philadelphia as it presents the 4th annual “Santa Paws” this Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 pm.
As Santa Paws makes his yearly visit, all locals and hotel guests are invited to visit the Hotel Palomar’s living room with their tail-wagging friends. A photographer will be on hand to capture the precious moment. Seasonal refreshments and treats will be available for both people and pets.
The pet-friendly, Hotel Palomar, hosts this free event each year to benefit Operation AVA, a Philadelphia charity whose mission is to provide life-saving rescue and medical assistance for dog, cats, and the families who take care of them. At the event, Operation AVA, founded by nine-year old Ava and twelve-year-old Lexie Gutierrez, will also be showcasing pets searching for a loving home this holiday season, as well as, taking donations.
To help spread holiday cheer, Philadelphia pet boutique, DoggieStyle, and dog-friendly eatery, Shake Shack, are contributing to the gift bags, valued at $80, including swag from DoggieStyle and a Shake Shack "Pooch-ini" card redeemable for a complimentary dog treat featuring vanilla frozen custard, peanut butter sauce and a ShackBurger dog biscuit.

Additionally, a lucky pet owner will receive a complimentary “Wags to Riches” package including, one overnight stay at the hotel and the royal-pup treatment at DoggieStyle for their four-legged companion.
