Genevieve Okoro collected 28 points, 12 rebounds and 6 blocks tonight to lead No. 1 Eastern to a 45-39 victory over No. 2 Cherokee in a girls' basketball game.

Eastern pulled away in the fourth quarter as the 6-1 Okoro scored nine of her points, grabbed five rebounds and blocked three shots.

"What can you say about her?" Eastern coach Joe Murphy said of Okoro. "I'm lucky to coach her."

Courtney Escudero scored 13 for Cherokee, while Tiffany Turner added 11 and Monica Roeder 7.

Cherokee was hurt by foul trouble.

"It was a knock-down, drag-out, heavyweight fight," Cherokee coach Shannon Bretz said.
