Archbishop Carroll took one of the country's top teams to overtime before falling, 70-61, to Oak Hill Academy (Va.) in the championship game of the Chick-fil-A Classic late Monday night in Columbia, S.C.
Austin Tilghman hit a three-pointer from the right wing with about eight seconds left to give Carroll a 58-56 lead.
Oak Hill's Caleb Martin made two free throws with three seconds left to force overtime. Martin, the tournament's most valuable player, scored 18 points.
The game was tied at 25 at the half, but Carroll led by as many as six in the second half.
Tiglhman, a senior guard who transferred from St. Andrew's in Delaware, scored 18 points. Junior forward Derrick Jones scored 19 points before fouling out in overtime. Both were named to the all-tournament team.
