Karen Lapkiewicz "did everything but drive the bus" on Tuesday night, according to St. Basil coach Terry Mancini.
The junior poured in 20 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, and dished out five assists to help the Panthers advance in the PIAA Class AA girls' basketball tournament with a 46-42 second-round win over York Catholic at Coatesville.
"She defended their best player and came out with a toughness that couldn't be matched," Mancini, the six-year Panthers' coach, said. "She came out as the best player on the court."
Natalie Kucowski had 12 blocks and 10 rebounds. Ally Sloan scored eight points and went 6 for 8 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter. York Catholic eliminated St. Basil in the state semifinals two years ago.
The Panthers will face District 2 runner-up Holy Redeemer in the quarterfinals.
