A 30-year-old man has been arrested and charged with stabbing and critically wounding his father during a dispute over money on a Kensington street, police said Friday.
The incident occurred about 7:45 p.m. on the 2000 block of East Clearfield Street.
Police said the 51-year-old victim was getting into a car with his fiancee and her daughter when he saw his son, Carlos Mark Figueroa 30, standing with two other men on the street.
The victim went over and, police said, got into a verbal dispute over money, the nature of which was not spelled out.
Figueroa pulled a knife and stabbed his father in the body and then thrust the blade into the older man's legs as he fell into the passenger seat of the car, police said.
The victim was taken by private vehicle to Episcopal Hospital and then transferred to Temple University Hospital, where he was reported in critical condition.
Police found Figueroa on the 2000 block of Albright Street, where he lives, and arrested him without incident, police said.
Figueroa has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon and related offenses.
