Righthanders Billy Ford and John Durkee combined on four-hitter as Malvern Prep quieted host Penn Charter, 8-2, in an Inter-Academic League baseball contest Friday afternoon.

Third baseman Joe Poduslenko (2 for 3, three runs) and leftfielder Matt Greskoff (3 for 4, two runs) combined for five of the eight runs. Helped by four walks and a throwing error, the Friars scored four runs in the fifth and went in front, 7-2.

Malvern Prep improved to 22-5 overall and 7-0 in the Inter-Ac. The Friars are ranked No. 1 in Southeastern Pennsylvania by The Inquirer.

Penn Charter, which scored both of its runs in the second frame, slipped to 19-5 and 4-3.

The Quakers' Kenny Koplove, a senior bound for Duke, had to leave the game in the top of the sixth with a left-thumb injury. The shortstop dove to his right while trying to stop Poduslenko's grounder from reaching the outfield

Malvern Prep, which overcame four errors, totaled nine hits.

Freshman southpaw Zach Wilegus started for the Quakers, yielding  five runs five hits (all singles) in four innings.
