With all the open head coaching jobs open in college basketball, one would think a school might reach out to Villanova's Jay Wright, who has been mentioned in connection with one job or another seemingly every year.

And it happened again this year according to a report.

On Tuesday, Seth Davis of Sports Illustrated and CBS Sports tweeted:

Rick Barnes was let go last weekend at Texas after 17 seasons.

Wright, who just completed his 14th season at Villanova after the Wildcats were upset by North Carolina State in their second NCAA East Regional game, was seriously considered for the Kentucky job before 'Nova reached the Final Four in 2009. That job went to John Calipari.
