Temple's Brown to miss second straight game

Temple senior point guard Josh Brown will miss his second straight game because of soreness, and applying for a medical redshirt remains appears to remain a possibility.

Temple (8-4) will host Yale (6-4) at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Owls' final non-conference game at the Liacouras Center.

Brown has not practiced since playing 25 minutes in a 78-57 loss at Villanova on Dec. 13. He missed the first six games of the season while recovering from Achilles tendon surgery, which he underwent on May 25. Brown then played five consecutive games before missing Saturday's 68-63 win over NJIT.

"He is not going to play tomorrow. That is my impression: He won't play," Temple coach Fran Dunphy said before Wednesday's practice. "He hasn't practiced in a while."

Brown would still be eligible for a potential medial redshirt because he wouldn't have played in 30 percent of Temple's games. A player also can't appear in a game during the second half of the season, which means Brown wouldn't see action in a game after Jan. 4.

The 6-foot-3 Brown has appeared in five games, averaging 7.2 points and 1.8 assists in 20.4 minutes.

Freshman Alani Moore is expected to start in Brown's place.
