Five things to know about the Flyers today

Five things to know about the Flyers (27-22-7) today as they prepare to play in Calgary (28-26-3) on Wednesday night:

  1. Michal Neuvirth will make his fifth start in the last six games. The 28-year-old goaltender has a 1.20 goals-against average and .946 save percentage (106 saves on 112 shots) in his last five starts.

  2. The Flames are coming off a 5-0 home loss Monday to lowly Arizona, which was sparked by former Flyers Ryan White (goal, assist) and Luke Schenn (two assists, plus-4).

  3. The Flyers fired 43 shots and scored a 5-3 win over visiting Calgary on Nov. 27 despite allowing a pair of shorthanded goals. Anthony Stolarz, in his NHL debut, collected the victory and Roman Lyubimov, Wayne Simmonds, Chris VandeVelde and Jake Voracek each had two points as the Flyers started a 10-game winning streak.

  4. The Flyers and Calgary are one spot from a playoff position in their respective conferences. The Flames are just 14-14 at home, and the Flyers are 10-13-3 on the road.

  5. Calgary's Sean Monahan, 22, has 99 career goals and is on the verge of becoming the sixth-youngest among active NHL players to reach triple digits.
