The Phanatic was dancing with a fan late in Wednesday's game, when the public address announcer asked the mascot to reveal who his dance partner was.
The man - Lt. Shaun Wixted - took off the Mexican hat and poncho. The Army officer and West Point graduate had been stationed in Kuwait for a year. His parents were in the front row at Bright House Field and did not know their son was home.
Wixted raced over to his parents, Betsy and Michael, and the crowd gave him a standing ovation. Wixted was born in Allentown and grew up in Fox Chase before moving to North Carolina. He played baseball at West Point.
