A tip for you: Bartender throwing a party for animals

Rouge bartender Sam Trasatti will put her $2,000 tip toward a fund-raiser.

Rouge bartender Sam Trasatti got the tip of a career on the night of May 8, when two guys left $2,000 to her and $5,000 to a colleague.

It was the work of "Tips for Jesus," basically a dot-com gazillionaire and his buddy who roam the country, putting smiles on service workers' faces.

At the time, Trasatti told me that she would apply the two grand to a trip to Europe because she is turning 30.

Well, Trasatti turns 30 on Monday, June 30, and she is marking this "golden" birthday a bit more altruistically.

Sam has put the cash toward a PAWS fund-raiser at U Bar (1220 Locust St.), and even had Camac Street just south of Locust Street closed off from 6 to 10 p.m. to allow for better mingling.

A $5 donation will be requested at the door, and 100 percent of the donation will go to PAWS. The party will include  hors d'oeuvres, a glass of golden champagne, and reduced-priced drinks at the party.

Tipping is optional but will go to PAWS.
