Philadelphia Gear Corp., King of Prussia, said it had purchased General Electric Corp.'s marine gear business, which supplies the United States Navy and foreign navies.

Philadelphia Gear Corp., King of Prussia, said it had purchased General Electric Corp.'s marine gear business, which supplies the United States Navy and foreign navies.

The deal, the value of which was not disclosed, included intellectual property, equipment and assistance in expanding Philadelphia Gear's production capabilities.

The designs include the gears for the U.S. Navy's Arleigh Burke Class DDG destroyers, but not the gear assemblies for the CVN-78 nuclear aircraft product line, said Philadelphia Gear, which was founded in 1892.

Philadelphia Gear said it will move production of the new products to its existing sites, the main one of which is the main manufacturing plant in Lynwood, Calif.
