On the Market: 5-bedroom Delaware dream home for $1.9M

"We were attracted to the lot where we built the home due to its location near downtown Newark," the homeowner said.

Collin Burkhart

It took Sean Rhoads and his wife, Keri Fisher, two years to build the house of their dreams in Delaware.

"We were attracted to the lot where we built the home due to its location near downtown Newark," he said. "As well as a creek and wooded area on the property."

The couple built the home with Dewson Construction, and it was designed by Hillcrest. The finished project included environmentally sustainable building materials wherever possible.

Rhoads said the location was desirable for them given its proximity to the city.

Newark is "a lively university town with many great restaurants and amenities," he said. "The house is located in a quiet neighborhood."

The five-bedroom home is situated on a private parcel of 4.2 acres near the White Clay Creek State Park. For closer recreation, the property includes an in-ground pool the couple enjoys.

"The pool is also a great feature," Rhoads said.

Inside, the home theater and the library are among his favorite rooms.

The still-new kitchen includes commercial-grade appliances and granite counter tops. The lower level also was designed with entertainment in mind and includes a complete wet, bar along with a wine cellar adjacent to the private theater.

In addition to the in-ground pool out back, the property features an outdoor kitchen with a fire pit. There is also room for a full collection of vehicles with a five-car garage.

Rhoads said the couple has decided that it's the right time to sell as their work lives are taking them away from Newark.

"We are relocating out of the region for career reasons," he said.
