, due May 4, splits the difference between the band's experimental and jam-band approaches. "Boy, I was ready," Jim James sings. "I was ready for spring." Hear! Hear!

"The Fall." Fans atwitter that Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny are reuniting for a new X-Files series would do well to check out Anderson in this tense BBC psychological thriller set in Northern Ireland. Its two five-episode seasons, which co-star Fifty Shades of Grey's Jamie Dornan as a serial killer, are streaming on Netflix.

Diarrhea Planet. Nashville six-piece band are the winners and still champions of the good-band-with-a-

terrible-name contest. The pop-wise guitar army cuts loose at Underground Arts on Tuesday.

Jamie xx, featuring Romy, "Loud Places." The latest haunting track from In Colour, the forthcoming solo debut by Jamie Smith, the production mastermind of understated British trio The xx. With Jamie's bandmate Romy Madley-Croft on vocals, it sounds like an xx song, and that's never a bad thing.

Lady Lamb. Aly Spaltro has shortened her stage name (she was formerly known as Lady Lamb the Beekeeper), but the now-Brooklyn-based songwriter, who honed her craft while working night shifts at a video store in Brunswick, Maine, has not lost her knack for writing brightly melodic folk-pop songs. Her new album, After, is out on Mom + Pop records. With Rathborne, Wednesday at World Cafe Live.
