More face time for Stephen A.

Inquirer sports columnist Stephen A. Smith, already an ESPN basketball analyst and New York radio host, will broaden his resume a little more on Feb. 2 with a 30-second appearance on General Hospital. Smith, whose show on ESPN2 Quite Frankly was recently canceled, plays a newspaper reporter covering a hostage situation.

"I just have a couple of lines," he says. The sports guy, 39, has been a GH fan since he was 5. He was invited to be on the show after a General Hospital publicist found out he was a fan. General Hospital airs at 3 p.m. weekdays on 6ABC.

Smith also has a small role in Chris Rock's next movie, I Think I Love My Wife, due out this year.
