College Access Center receives another grant

CHESTER High school students in Chester will be getting more help, thanks to a $25,000 grant from TD Bank to the College Access Center of Delaware County.

The funding will go to the center's Senior Academy, a program for 20 seniors enrolled in precollege, career, or academic support programs at the center.

The College Access Center, on Widener University's campus, helps high school students and adults by providing free college-prep services, including tutoring, study-skills development, and help with the financial aid process.

In December, TD donated $52,500 to help fund the center's Road Map to College program.

The center is an initiative of the Chester Higher Education Council, a nonprofit formed by the presidents of Cheyney University, Delaware County Community College, Neumann College, Penn State Brandywine, Swarthmore College, and Widener to help Chester residents with their educational needs. - Mari A.
