Reiser's stand-up on the rise

Only a‘gentlemanly’ pace of standup comedy for Paul Reiser

COMIC Paul Reiser and "Dirty Dancing" star Jennifer Grey star in the new Amazon Studios comedy series "Red Oaks," which premieres this Friday. But stand-up comedy was much on Reiser's mind when he spoke with Daily News TV critic Ellen Gray in Beverly Hills, Calif., earlier this year.

He's been doing more stand-up gigs in the past two years than he had in 20, he said. "I've been doing it at a very gentlemanly pace. I just kind of missed it."

Asked how his comedy had changed over the years, he replied: "One of the things that struck me is that it was much more fun, and, not that I had something more to say, [but] I had a better sense of who I am, and you have a perspective. Right or wrong, your perspective is more focused. You just have that much more experience. So, as a comic, I've been married for 25 years. I have children. There's a lot of stuff that generates material."

Reiser brings his stand-up show to the Colonial Theatre (227 Bridge St.), in Phoenixville, next month to share his comedic tales of love, life and relationships with audiences.

And due for release later this year, the independent thriller "6 Miranda Drive" features the "Mad About You" star playing opposite Philly's own Kevin Bacon and Lucy Fry.

New XPN host sez, 'Ask me anything'

New "WXPN Morning Show" host Kristen Kurtis goes live on air Monday, taking over the 6 to 10 a.m. slot long held by Michaela Majoun. She's also inviting listeners to #AskMeAnything on Twitter.

Free tickets

I have a pair of tickets to see Americana legend Patty Griffin at the Keswick Theatre (291 N. Keswick Ave.), in Glenside, tonight. They're free to the first person who emails me today. Just write "Patty Griffin" in the subject line and I'll know it's you.

OUT AND ABOUT

*   Ashton Kutcher and Monica Lewinsky stopped at Sbraga (440 S. Broad St.) Monday night for a special Forbes Under 30 Summit dinner. Sources say Kutcher and Lewinsky did not arrive together but both are taking part in the Forbes Summit, which ends tomorrow at the Pennsylvania Convention Center (1101 Arch St.).

For the second year in a row, Lewinsky spoke during the "Under 30 Summit Reunion," addressing the dangers of cyberbullying. Sources told me that Kutcher gave a brief speech at Sbraga on the importance of family and entrepreneurship.

*  Philadelphia Flyers brothers Brayden and Luke Schenn stopped by local Top Chef winner Jason Cichonski's new restaurant for the Flyers' Puck Drop Party on Monday night. Cichonski's 1100 Social at Xfinity Live! (1100 Pattison Ave.) opened Friday night, just in time for the Flyers' weeklong countdown to their home opener.

Rare wings in the air

As an aviation buff, this one caught my eye.

A handful of majestic, extremely rare and fully restored WWII bomber and fighter planes will make a local appearance as part of the national Wings of Freedom Tour, stopping at the Chester County Airport (1 Earhart Drive, Coatesville) today through Friday.

The vintage Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, the Consolidated B-24 Liberator and the North American P-51 Mustang are expected to deliver on their unique abilities in the Coatesville sky. For more information, log on to collingsfoundation.org.
