Christie Cohen of Central Bucks South High School and Anna Gaul of Council Rock High School North were among the best of category winners in the Pennsylvania State Education Association Mideastern Region's 20th annual "Touch the Future" student art exhibition.
Christie won for traditional photography; Anna won in the color drawing category.
Twenty-four public schools in Bucks and Montgomery Counties submitted students' artwork for consideration.
Of the more than 600 entries received, 260 pieces were chosen for display.
There were 19 prize-winners: 14 best of category winners and three overall best of show winners, plus two purchase prize winners, whose art will be on permanent display in the association's Montgomeryville office.
The exhibition began as a memorial to NASA's "teacher in space," Christa McAuliffe, whose motto was, "I touch the future . . . I teach." McAuliffe died in the Challenger space shuttle disaster in 1986.
