Two studies examining environmental risk factors for children's health are recruiting women who are pregnant or intend to become pregnant:

Early Autism Risk Longitudinal Investigation
  • What: The EARLI study seeks women who already have a child diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. The family will be followed through the new baby's third birthday.
  • Where: Must reside in Philadelphia or in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, or Montgomery Counties, or in three other study locations nationwide.

National Children's Study
  • What: NCS is open to women ages 18 to 49. It will follow their children from before birth to age 21.
  • Where: Must live in Montgomery County. Eligibility will be extended in the future to residents of Philadelphia and Schuylkill County, Pa., Burlington County, N.J., and New Castle County, Del.; six other sites are also participating nationwide, with many more to be added in the coming years.
