But Donald F. Schwarz, the city's health commissioner, said panic about a possible case of swine flu was unnecessary.
There was "not a high probability" that the woman had the dreaded flu, he said.
Still, Schwarz urged anyone in the area who has recently traveled to Mexico and since developed a cough, fever and sore throat to call a doctor rather than risk infecting others with a possibly unnecessary trip to the emergency room. *
