THE FAMILY of murder victim Iris Tyson, 23, of South Philadelphia, who was found dead in a Point Breeze lot in May, has posted a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who committed the horrific crime.

The $2,000 reward is being administered by the Citizens Crime Commission.

Tyson was reported missing by her family on Mother's Day. Joe and Kelly Tyson have said that their daughter walked out of the house at 1 p.m. that day to buy a card to surprise her mother.

She said she would be back in "a little bit," but did not return.

A week later, her body was found in an overgrown lot near abandoned houses off Sydenham Street, just north of Federal.

Joe Tyson pleaded last week for any information.

"We're trying to get this gentleman off the street so another family doesn't have to go through this," he said.

A benefit will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Woodland String Band clubhouse, 3rd Street and Snyder Avenue, South Philadelphia, to raise more money for the reward. Tickets ($25) can be purchased at the door or by calling Tyson at 267-444-7509.

Tipsters can call the Citizens Crime Commission at 215-546-TIPS (546-8477).
