The Phillies will try to slow

Barry Bonds

' pursuit of

Hank Aaron

's all-time home run record when they open a four-game series against the Giants in San Francisco on Thursday.

Bonds has always liked hitting against the Phillies. He entered Friday with 741 career homers, 14 shy of Aaron's mark, and 63 of them have come against the Phillies. Only the Padres (86) and Dodgers (64) have given up more homers to Bonds.

Bonds had seven homers in his first 18 games this season. If he keeps up that pace, he will pull even with Aaron in the first two weeks of June. The Giants are in Philadelphia from June 1 to 4.
