Donovan McNabb has made some changes in his annual charity event to benefit diabetes research, which used to feature a gala at Lincoln Financial Field. Now the party has been replaced with the Donovan McNabb Foundation Golf Classic, to be held June 15 at RiverCrest Golf Club in Phoenixville. The tournament will feature McNabb, several Eagles teammates, and other NFL players, along with local sponsors. An awards ceremony, barbecue and silent auction will follow.

"Every athlete thinks they can play golf. Now you've got an opportunity to put it to the test," said McNabb, who admits to being a golfing novice.

McNabb and his father, Sam, will again host the All-Star Kids' Football Clinic at the Nova-Care Complex June 16, for boys and girls ages 11 to 14.

There are 300 spots, not all of them yet filled; kids can visit by May 31 to try to win a berth.

The annual online auction, also at McNabb's Web site, begins May 14 and closes at midnight on June 13, before carrying over to the golf tourney. More information is available by calling 212-784-6453.

Meanwhile, McNabb's teammate Brian Dawkins is hosting the Burn Prevention Classic, a golf tourney to benefit children's fire-safety programs, June 24-25 at Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem. It will feature a cocktail reception, silent and live auctions, awards presentation, and a celebrity shootout. More information is available from Dan Dillard at 610-969-3930. *
