D.J. White scored a career-high 29 points last night and No. 15 Indiana survived an injury to high-scoring freshman Eric Gordon in an 84-72 victory over visiting Tennessee State.

The Hoosiers (7-1) led early by as many as 19 points, but Gordon left the game with about 6 minutes left in the first half after he fell hard to the floor. He bruised his lower back.

Bruce Price, who led Tennessee State's comeback, scored a career-high 34 points.

In another game:

* At Florida, Nick Calathes scored 24 points, Chandler Parsons added 17 and the Gators (8-1) beat Jacksonville, 88-72.

In a women's game:

* At Rutgers, Epiphanny Prince scored 22 points as the No. 4 Scarlet Knights (5-1) beat third-ranked Maryland, 68-60, in the Jimmy V Women's Basketball Classic. Marissa Coleman led the Terrapins (10-1) with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Noteworthy

* North Carolina remained No. 1 in the Associated Press poll, but UCLA dropped to seventh after losing to Texas, which rose from eighth to fourth. Memphis and Kansas both moved up one spot to second and third.

Georgetown was fifth, followed by Duke, UCLA, Washington State, Michigan State and Tennessee. Marquette was 11th followed by Pittsburgh, Butler, Louisville, Indiana, Texas A & M, Gonzaga, Clemson, Oregon and BYU. The last five ranked teams were Xavier, Arizona, Vanderbilt, Southern California and Villanova.

Villanova (5-1) returned after a week out of the Top 25. The Wildcats beat Penn, 87-61, in their only game last week.

In the women's poll, Tennessee remained No. 1, followed by Connecticut, Maryland, Rutgers, North Carolina, Stanford, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma and Baylor. *
