The McDonald's LPGA Championship, which will again take place at Bulle Rock in Havre de Grace, Md., is looking for 1,300 volunteers to help run the event, set for June 5 to 8. For applications, call the tournament office at 302-428-1681 or 888-321-1681. For every friend or family member you recruit, you will receive a week-long admission pass (valued at $55). In addition, one person will be selected to participate in the 2-day pro-am, which is pretty much priceless. Particularly if you get picked to play with, say, Lorena Ochoa.

For information, check out the Web site at wwww.mcdslpga.org. Of course, you can always purchase tickets there, too.

The 2009 U.S. Women's Open is coming to Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, which also hosted the 1992 and 2000 Senior Opens. It's the first time this event has been held near Philadelphia in some time. The dates are July 9 to 12.

You can get tickets online at www.2009uswomensopen.com. That's also where you can sign up to be a volunteer. About 3,000 people are needed, and about half that many already have signed up.

As you might suspect, this thing will be sold out. Right now, there's a special holiday gift package that includes two good-any-day passes, plus a hat or mug with the 2009 logo, for $100. For details, call 610-814-6104. *
