The Flyers rallied from three separate deficits to night before falling to the Carolina Hurricanes in a shootout.
After the teams played to a 5-5 regulation tie and a scoreless overtime, the Hurricanes captured the shootout, 3-2, when a goal by former Flyer Rod Brind'Amour went off the glove, and then the back, of Flyers goalie Martin Biron.
Daniel Briere did not score on the Flyers' first attempt of the shootout. Mike Richards and Joffrey Lupul, who had his second hat trick in three games, did.
Carolina, however, was perfect in the shootout, with goals from Matt Cullen, Jeff Hamilton and Brind'Amour.
The Flyers fell to 0-2 in shootout this season.
After alternating wins and losses in the previous 11 games, the Flyers lost their second straight. They went into tonight with a 3-0 mark against the Southeast Division-leading Hurricanes.
