Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren passed along some good news involving injured Flyers left wing Simon Gagne.
Speaking on Comcast SportsNet's "Daily News Live" yesterday, Holmgren said Gagne passed baseline and impact tests yesterday "with flying colors."
Gagne took a shoulder check to the head from Florida's Jay Bouwmeester in the Flyers' eighth game and battled concussion symptoms all season. Gagne, 28, missed 57 regular-season games and the entire postseason.
"I'm feeling very good right now," Gagne said Wednesday. "I'm very happy the way things are going. Symptomwise, I think I'm 100 percent [clear]."
The two-time All-Star's next challenge is to get back into shape. As Holmgren noted yesterday, Gagne is a "little chubby."
"He'll be fine next year and he'll be a good player for us," Holmgren said. *
