Although they did not play last weekend because of a bye, the Soul clinched an AFL playoff spot on Saturday when the Dallas Desperados beat the Cleveland Gladiators, 68-52.

In a scheduling twist, the Soul (10-3) will take on the Eastern Division–leading Desperados (11-2) on Saturday at 8 p.m. at American Airlines Center. The Soul trail the Desperados by one game in the standings.

With just three regular-season games left for the Soul, Saturday's matchup could go a long way in determining the division winner and which team has home-field advantage throughout the conference playoffs.

The Soul defeated Dallas, 57-28, earlier in the season at the Wachovia Spectrum.

This is the third straight season the Soul have qualified for the postseason. In the previous two seasons, they won their first game but lost in the next round.
