Rutgers barely inching toward its stadium goal

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers has raised only a fraction of what is needed to cover a $30 million gap in funding for its football stadium expansion, the Newark Star-Ledger reported yesterday.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers has raised only a fraction of what is needed to cover a $30 million gap in funding for its football stadium expansion, the Newark Star-Ledger reported yesterday.

Records show that one of the few large contributions came from Gov. Corzine, who gave $1 million.

As of Sept. 3, additional donations were less than $93,000, hardly the millions Rutgers hoped to raise. Nearly all the contributions were less than $1,000. Many were $50.

Rutgers turned to private donors after the state refused to cover part of the cost of the $102 million stadium.
