Jeff Peterson led four Iowa players in double figures with 17 points and the host Hawkeyes pounded rival Iowa State, 73-57, last night.
Jermain Davis added 16 points for the Hawkeyes (9-2), who opened the second half on a 25-4 run to blow open what had been a tight game.
Iowa, which led by two at the break, got a pair of threes from Peterson that helped put them ahead 48-34 with 14:55 left. Matt Gatens pushed Iowa's lead to 16 by cutting through the lane for a layup and hitting a pair of free throws, and Peterson followed Devan Bawinkel's 3 with a layup to make it 59-36 with 10:45 to go.
Diante Garrett had 16 points to lead Iowa State (6-3), which lost its second straight to an instate school. The Cyclones blew a late lead and lost at home to Drake, 66-63, on Tuesday.

* At Des Moines, Iowa, Walt Harris' jumper with 4 seconds left in the third overtime lifted Stephen F. Austin (5-2) to a 112-111 win over North Dakota State in the Hy-Vee Classic, despite a school-record 60 points by NDSU's Ben Woodside.
Woodside also set school records for free throws made and attempted by going 30-for-35 from the line.
SFA had three players with more than 20 points. Eddie Williams, 25; Josh Alexander, 24; and Matt Kingsley, 23.
* At Maryland, Landon Milbourne scored a career-high 23 points as the Terrapins (7-2) routed Delaware Stae, 86-58. Kris Douse scored 14 to lead the Hornets (2-11).
* At Miami, James Dews had 15 points, Jack McClinton scored 12 and the Hurricanes (6-2) defeated Florida International, 76-50.
